              How Social Security Helps Small Businesses
              - With You through Life's Journey

               The community of Connersville and Fayette County are invited to attend the Chamber of Commerce's Legislative Series Lunch with a special presentation by the Social Security Administration's Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization.
              Description:  The Social Security Administration (SSA) promotes economic security by providing financial benefits and resources to help keep the general public financially secure throughout life’s journey.  Today’s presentation will focus on the various business services SSA provides to employers through its’ secure website.  Services include:
              •         Employer W-2 Filing to Social Security
              •         Social Security Number Verification Service through Business Services Online
              •         Consent Based SSN Verification Service

               The Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) was established in October 1979 pursuant to Public Law 95-507, which assigned it the task of fostering the use of small and disadvantaged businesses as Federal contractors. To accomplish this task, the OSDBU develops and implements appropriate outreach programs aimed at heightening the awareness of the small business community to the contracting opportunities available within SSA. Outreach efforts include activities such as sponsoring small business fairs and procurement conferences, as well as participating in trade group seminars, conventions, and other forums which promote the utilization of small and disadvantaged businesses as contractors.
